Embarking on a journey of an hour and a half, I discovered a golfing gem that surpassed all expectations. This course undeniably claims its position within my coveted top 3 courses for the year 2023, and I assure you, my rounds have been numerous. The greens, exhibiting both swiftness and challenge, are a testament to the dedication of the maintenance team. The fairways, meticulously designed and impeccably tended, present a sight to behold.
A true standout among the course's treasures is the inaugural par 3 on the front 9, elegantly spanning a serene lake, commanding a view of a picturesque putting green nestled amidst nature's canvas. As the early morning mist gently rises, the enchantment of this hole is unparalleled.
The surrounding Apple Valley region, a tapestry of natural beauty, complements the tranquility of the course. Every hole at Apple Valley carries its distinctive character, offering a golfing experience that remains etched in memory. My anticipation is already building for a return expedition in the autumn, as the foliage transforms the landscape into a kaleidoscope of colors, enhancing the already captivating layout.
With utmost enthusiasm, I raise not one, but two resounding thumbs in endorsement of this splendid course.
This course is in great condition. Smooth fairways, level tee boxes, and fast greens. Perfect course for all levels of play with hole lengths from various tees. Most fairways are wide enough to stay in them even if you don't hit straight every time. Worth the time effort and cost. Staff was helpful and friendly. Snack bar well stocked.
Course is in outstanding shape. Get tee times in advance .. people wanna play here... n8ce craft beers: Elvis juice, blood Thirsty orange, & Truth....
Hands down one of the best public courses I've played. It's up there with Virtues, in my opinion. The fairways and tee boxes could be considered better than the greens at some other public courses! The greens here rolled magnificently and were extremely playable. Will surely endure the 50 minute one-way drive to play here at least once more this year!
Golf course in decent shape. Few bare/burnt spots in a few fairways but overall tees/greens were top notch! Extremely friendly staff in pro shop and grill room. Pace of play was solid for a busy Saturday. 4 hours 25 mins with a short stop at turn. However lost a star on rating due to few spots in fairways and zero water to drink. They have a couple vending machines for $3+ for a bottle of water. Absolutely absurd no water coolers. Did have a water pipe on #7 tee but no luck to turn on to drink or water towels. Completely unacceptable in my opinion especially in hot and humid summer months. Grill room was more then happy to give ice out but still needs to be water on course. Bring a cooler with extra water and you will enjoy your day here!
Beautiful late Summer day on a very nice layout that is a good test of your game. It was a long day, that was to be expected on a holiday weekend.
Tee boxes and greens were a bit beat up, not the golf courses fault after a long summer of players that refuse to fix a ball mark.
Greens were quick, yet still playable and fair.
Overall a very good course and a good value. Well worth the drive up from Columbus.
This is a well maintained golf course. We play here as a family when we have stayed in a vrbo. The staff is very friendly and fun to be around. If you are in the area, I highly recommend taking some time to play the course.
They sure know how to ruin a beautiful course by threatening you not once, not twice, but 3 times that your pace of play is too slow. We played 9 holes in exactly 2 hours. In all my years of golf, I have to say this was a first for me.
*ETA after owner response: All 4 players were experienced, seasoned players- 2 of which have 20+ years of competitive golf experience.
The first words the ranger spoke to us were not "hi, hello, or howdy" but instead were "We're going to have to ask you to leave if you don't pick up your pace." It caught everyone off guard and soured an otherwise lovely birthday morning. The ranger offered that it was the owner who presses the pace of play issue due to the large volume of players. We were not being pressed by the group behind us, and looking at our watches we should have been on the pace of play. This was on the 5th hole of 18, we saw him again on the 7th hole, and on the 8th hole yet again before finally splitting into 2 and 2 before the turn. Some players opted to not complete the hole because of how uncomfortable the whole experience was becoming, which is disappointing on a multitude of levels. Afterall, everyone is paying to play.
This is a beautiful and busy course, and tee times are often filled. With the sheer volume of golfers packed on this course, in addition to the multiple large group outings that work in shotgun style on the weekends as well, I am sure time management is a frequent challenge for the ownership. And as the owner mentioned in their reply, there are a multitude of other courses out there that do suit us better and provide a more enjoyable outing where everyone feels welcome to complete their round. We completed 18 holes in 4 hours exactly (the inital review was written while still on the course after completing 9 holes). Thanks for the reply and best wishes.
